“If you can’t fly then run; if you can’t run then walk; if you can’t walk then crawl; but whatever you do, keep moving forward.”
For many people, making that first counseling appointment is nerve wracking. Clients tend to feel apprehensive about sharing their issues with a stranger and try hard to convince themselves that everything is just fine. Society tells us we should have our stuff together; only the weak seek help.
In reality, strength comes from exploring your deep issues in order to discover a sense of empowerment and resiliency. It is a process of discovering the inner you and setting aside the surface person you show to the world around you.
Once you make and attend your first appointment, apprehension and nervousness will fall away. In its place you will find a deep sense of relief and anticipation for learning more about you, understanding how you learned to cope as you have and discovering entirely new, more effective ways to move forward.
Making the call
When you are ready to make an appointment, please do so here or by calling 720-432-3198. You can leave a confidential voicemail stating your name, phone number and reason for seeking counseling. I will do my best to return your call promptly (often on the same day) to discuss your issues and concerns further.
Initial consultation
On the free phone consult (about 20 minutes), we will briefly talk through the process of counseling and ensure you are comfortable with moving forward before setting an appointment for your first counseling session. Each therapy session is scheduled for 50 minutes. As needed, longer sessions can be made available at a prorated fee.
New client paperwork
In order to best get to you know a little about your story, there is some initial paperwork to handle. All of the necessary paperwork is available to you online via the Client Portal once your first session is scheduled. It is very important that the initial paperwork is reviewed, understood and signed by you before we begin our counseling sessions. Any questions or concerns that you may have about the paperwork will be addressed in our first session.
Investment, not payment
I encourage you to think of counseling as an investment in your well-being rather than another weekly expense. Counseling requires honest hard work, much like the commitment necessary to bettering your physical health. I have found that after just a few sessions, clients see the positive changes being made as a result of their counseling process and they work diligently to adjust their monthly budget to accommodate on-going mental health counseling. Make the investment in yourself. You are most definitely worth it!
Counseling fees are due at the time of service and can be found here.
At this time, I do not work with insurance providers, other than a local employee assistance program (EAP), but I am happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You can learn more about why I do not work with insurance providers here.
